Sharing Journaling Strategies with Cancer Survivors
Last month, I lead a workshop with The Smith Center, “a nonprofit health, education, and arts organization in Washington DC” that develops and promotes “healing practices that explore physical, emotional, and mental resources that lead to life-affirming changes for people affected by cancer.” I was happy that they shared their time and stories and I was grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned about the practice of journaling.
The workshop reminded me that one of the many benefits to creating a daily journaling practice is that it makes it easier to track symptoms and to document treatment, It also provides space for honoring struggles, celebrating progress and expressing gratitude for support.
Each workshop, whether it’s for an individual, a couple or a group, confirms my belief that the benefits of journaling apply to everyone, regardless of their background, age or life experience.
It was such an honor to work with The Smith Center and I’m looking forward to working with them again in April.
